Julie is the Director for the Union County Public Library. She has always loved coming to UCPL since she was a little girl and participated in the library’s story times and summer reading program. Now she loves sharing that passion with her own children. Julie is passionate about helping her community. She loves to empower other leaders, dream big ideas, and then push to make those dreams happen. Julie’s goals include making the Union County Public Library the kindest, most helpful, and innovative library in the country. She wants everyone to walk away from UCPL having the best experience and wanting to come back the next day.
After marrying a Union county native, Clara moved to Liberty from Jakarta, Indonesia. When seeing her love of reading books, her husband had suggested that she take a chance at working at the UCPL. She was instantly hired by then Library director Karen Kahl after her first interview. Clara started under the tutelage of Mary Swafford Rigsby, "Ms. Mary", in the kids section of the library, where she still works to this day. She loves reading urban fantasy and paranormal romance books by authors such as Sherrilyn Kenyon. Clara has worked at the Library for 11 years, where she's seen generations of children learn and grow through the children's programs that are offered at the UCPL, and looks forward to many generations to come.
Library Program Coordinator
Stefanie is the Library Program Coordinator for the Union County Public Library. She married her high school sweetheart Barry. She has three children and two pups. Her passion is working with children and seniors through story time and Reminisce. She enjoys time with the family, gardening, a good book and snuggling with her dogs.
Trudi Hadden is a desk clerk at UCPL. She has been happily married to her husband, Dana, for thirty years. She has two adult children and cannot wait to be a grandma. She enjoys working with all ages at the library. She loves God, people and her cats.
Bill is the travelling librarian for the Union County Public Library which means that he delivers library items to the residents of Union County who are home bound. He began employment with UCPL after 33 years of serving the residents of Indiana as an Indiana Conservation Officer and currently works one day a week which allows him time to pursue a multitude of other things that he enjoys. He has a variety of interests, some of which are hanging out with his grandchildren, fly fishing and travelling with his wife Carole. Bill attempts to serve the patrons and staff whenever possible and plans to continue to assist them in whatever capacity is needed.
Shy is a library clerk for the Union County Public Library. She loves working with people and making sure that everyone is satisfied. Shy worked for UCPL during high school. She likes to read, write, and study poetry as well as listen to spoken word poetry. Her goal in life is to be the best parent and leader she can possibly be.
Kate is a Library Clerk for the Union County Public Library. Kate is in charge of the manga’s in the young adult graphic fiction section of the library along with keeping the shelter dog board and donations up to date and delivered to the correct animal shelters in the area. She works with local animal shelters, Adopt-A-Dog and Liberty Acres United Rescue Animal Sanctuary to help better her communities’ animals. She has been working at the library since high school and enjoys her job there. Some of her passions include helping the public, animals, and of course anime and video games. She has gained many skills over the years like active listening, communication, problem solving and creativity. Kate is always there to help to the best of her ability and loves talking with patrons. She especially loves helping people select manga’s they will enjoy and discuss her favorite manga’s and anime. She is currently attending Indiana University East and is studying for a Political Science degree. She sees herself working in the government with animals or conservation.
Beth is the Assistant Director for Union County Public Library. She has always been a voracious reader and lover of all things book. If you need a recommendation of something to read, come prepared to leave with not just one book, but many. On her first day at the library, she was allowed to pick books to purchase...it was then that she knew she had found her dream job. Being on the nerdy side, she loves all things fantasy, especially dragons and vampires. It is her goal to try to find the perfect book for everyone. Other than books, she enjoys her family, all kinds of music, cooking, watching movies, and cats. If you have any questions about the library or its services, do not hesitate to stop in and ask. She truly loves her library!
Donna has worked at the library for the past 9 years as a Library Clerk. Her passion is faith, family and helping and encouraging others. She spends a lot of time assisting the Union County Cancer Association. Donna enjoys pulling the items for the Homebound delivery service that gives everyone access to books and Library material. Donna’s motto is “what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger “.
Electronic Outreach Specialist
Susanne is the Electronic Outreach Specialist. She is responsible for the weekly electronic newsletter and keeping the library’s event calendar up to date on the smart phone library app. She’s an avid knitter and helps with the Fiber Handcraft group that meets weekly at the library. Being a life-long reader, she “scouts” new books for the library to acquire. Susanne is old school and for her, the library is all about books, books, and more books!
Alec is the Technology Coordinator for the Union County Public Library. He has been working with technology since grade school. Alec has a passion for web and video game development. Being interested in psychology, art, and marketing his strongest skills are creativity and problem solving. He looks to encourage younger generations to learn and use technology to help people.
Vicky is the Genealogist for the Union County Public Library. She is a lifelong resident of Union County and is married to Steve Logue. Vicky has been interested in her family history for as long as she can remember. Passing on the knowledge of her family to her children is very important. She believes that knowing about your ancestors can give you a sense of belonging and pride. She enjoys working with people and hearing about their family history. She is an active member of the Union County Historical Society and is the Union County Historian for the state of Indiana.
Madelyn is a library clerk for the Union County Public Library. She spent a lot of time at the library pursuing education, then began working for the library in November 2019. Madelyn enjoys fixing things, meeting new people, and learning new things. While caring for animals, reading, and crafting, are some of her biggest hobbies, drawing and painting are her favorite past times. She hopes to continue her education and expand her career options later in life. She also wants to learn more about crafting with wood and clay. Her skills include creativity, caring for plants, and cooking. She hopes to help and inspire people of all ages to learn about keeping plants in the home and gardening for a decorative and useful purpose.
Hope is a Desk Page for the Union County Public Library. She started working at UCPL sophomore year of high school and is now in college at IU East Richmond Indiana. She's currently studying nursing with a minor in psychology/neuroscience. She loves working with people and also has a background in cosmetology. She looks to help people through psychology and the love of Christ.
